32 Green-Coded Peg Diary Books

Peg is the youngest child in the fictional Finn family and the books are written as her diary on the Finn family farm. Children are eager to read each new story.

There are no illustrations in this series so the child reads the text and does not guess words by looking at pictures.

Each Book Will Introduce One Phonogram

The rest of the text is made up of phonetic words and sight words previously introduced. The exception is "sh", "ch", and "th",which will also be used after each one is introduced.

These 10 books are about ten tradespeople living in Spring Hill Glen, a fictional town close to the Finn family farm.

On the left-hand side of each page is a black and white 5"x7" photograph and on the right-hand side is the text.

The tradespeople included are the Apothecary, the Blacksmith, the Chandler, the Cobbler, the Innkeeper, the Miller, the Preacher, the Printer, the Tailor, and the Teacher.

  • These books incorporate all the reading skills previously introduced. There is no set order.

Teacher's Manual

Comprehensive manual includes all information needed to teach this program. No phonics background is necessary. Each step will be explained. The spelling, reading, and writing curriculums overlap and strength each other.

Reading
Instructions on using all the materials offered plus many more activities, including a Short Vowel Song, blackboard activities, creating words by using a moveable alphabet, matching words with objects or pictures.
Writing
Forming letters to writing narrations. Patterns to make sandpaper letters for child to trace letters with fingers, tracing letters with fingers, tracing letters on small chalkboards, writing letters in 1" grid, story papers, journals, narrations.
Spelling
117 lessons, writing three letter words to writing poems. The first spelling exercises take place with a child using a small chalkboard to write a three letter word. The 117 spelling lessons follow the same reading steps, beginning with three-letter phonetic words and adding simple sight words. It progresses through longer phonetic words and phonograms. The sentences that are used for reading are reused for dictation.
